I drive a school bus in Quebec. Every afternoon I pick up elementary kids straight from school. And every single day I ask myself the same question: What the fuck are they teaching these kids?

Because it damn sure isn’t respect, safety, or basic manners. These children get on the bus and immediately turn it into a circus: Throwing shit Standing up while the bus is moving Screaming Pushing each other Playing ball like it’s recess Sticking half their body out the window like they have a death wish And I’m supposed to drive safely while this chaos is happening behind me. Let me remind you: I am a driver.

Not a teacher. Not an intervenant. Not a babysitter.

Not a security guard. I’m not paid or trained to discipline 30+ kids. My job is to get them home in one piece.

That’s it. Yet the school system leaves drivers to deal with this mess every day. Meanwhile, Quebec brags about its “excellent” education system We pay some of the heaviest taxes in Canada.

High income tax. High QST. Heavy property taxes.

All that money is supposed to go toward giving our kids a proper education. Discipline. Respect.

A sense of danger. Basic human decency. But the reality I see every single afternoon is the complete opposite.

These kids leave school and act like they learned nothing about authority, nothing about safety, nothing about respecting the people who are literally driving them home for free. Taxpayers are funding this. This is Quebec negligence at its finest The education system gets praised on paper.

But on the ground? It’s producing kids with zero respect for rules, zero respect for safety, and zero respect for the adults in charge. And when drivers report it?

Schools drag their feet. Nothing changes. Drivers quit.

The shortage gets worse. Routes get cancelled. And the cycle repeats.

This is why so many school bus drivers are leaving or refusing the job. Nobody wants to risk their life babysitting undisciplined kids while the school and parents do nothing. Quebec loves to act like it’s better than everyone else.

But when it comes to basic discipline and turning children into responsible human beings? We’re failing hard. And we’re paying top dollar for that failure.

Wake up. The money we pay in taxes isn’t magically creating respectful, disciplined kids. It’s funding a system that lets them act wild the second they step on the bus.

I’m not the only driver seeing this. This is systemic. And until the schools and the Ministry of Education start taking real accountability, the driver shortage is only going to get worse.

Because nobody wants this job when the kids have no sense of danger and no respect for authority. Quebec, you’re charging us like we have the best education system in the world… But the kids on my bus every afternoon are proving the opposite.
